Thailand Update

23 Dec

Hey guys!

Here’s a little update and I guess some prayer request!

We have been in Thailand for a bit more than one week now. It’s really different but really good at the same time! We are staying in a small town called Phrao which consists of mostly Thais who don’t speak English and little foreigners.

We was teaching at a Kindergarden called Little Candles which is owned by our previous Youth pastor. There are three Christian teahcers at the Kindagarden which is pretty cool. There are two other teachers who are not Christians and CAN speak engligh, which is REALLY rare! So please pray that we’ll will have opportunities to have spiritual conversations with them.

Alan has already had a little spiritual conversation with one of them. So, pray for that! We have also been teaching at Phrao High School.  Pray that through our actions they will realise how different we are and question our beliefs. We are not allowed to directly evangelise teachers there but if the topic of religion comes up, we can share our faith. Hehehe. Today we did the Everything skit in front of the whole school for their Christmas concert. Please pray that they will understand the message and think about it. Pray that the Holy Spirit will work in their hearts!

Finally, please pray for our team as they are having conflicts etc!

A Hunger for God

4 Dec

Following from the book review last night I thought I would share the links with you – the second one is specifically the link to online books – quite handy and… FREE!

Again the book I shared on was “A Hunger for God”

We’re now heading into the holidays so it’s a great opportunity to use your spare time to seek the Lord.  I’m aware most of us probably won’t cause ultimately – we don’t care enough.  So I’m going to rant a bit here in the hopes to encourage someone towards the pursuit of a deeper intimacy with our Heavenly Father – cause He is so worthy!

Lately, I’ve been thinking about Psalms 73:25-26:

Whom have I in heaven but You? And there is nothing on earth that I desire besides You.  My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.

And also Psalms 16:11

You make known to me the path of life; inYour presence there is fullness of joy; at Your right hand are pleasures forevermore.

I won’t expand on those too much cause I’ll end up writing a thesis… But just think deeply about the implications of those two Psalms.  These holidays I know we will seek many things for entertainment and enjoyment – and there is nothing wrong with most of that – BUT be mindful – are we selling ourselves short?  Can anything that we fill our lives with measure up to the fullness of joy?  Or are we so dulling our spiritual senses where we are so satisfied with this world that we miss the blessings and privelege of relationship with God, or worse still don’t even care?  Are we not even hungry for God?  Are we more concerned about the things of this world than the things of heaven? And most importantly, are we giving God the place in our lives and honour that He alone deserves?

I hope God would graciously open our eyes to His infinite worth and excellence – that we might pursue Him, experience Him and love Him as He deserves.

If you feel bored or lifeless this holidays – give all you can to be with THE Life-giver and Joy-creator.

“In [His] presence is fullness of joy”
